2025 ArtBiz Asia Forum

May 9, 2025

Venetian Macao

In an era where globalization and local culture coexist, culture and art have established themselves as significant forces in promoting tourism development. Today, the "integration of culture and tourism" has become a global trend. A key concern in East Asia is how to maintain the depth and authenticity of culture while fostering the tourism economy, achieving a balance between economic growth and cultural conservation. It is essential to consider how art and culture can enhance the tourism industry while ensuring their uniqueness and sustainability.

In recent years, Macao has actively pursued urban revitalization and art tourism. For instance, the Macao SAR government has collaborated with six integrated resort enterprises to promote district revitalization. Additionally, it has organized various art festivals and projects to showcase new possibilities for integrating art, culture, and tourism through creative efforts. Similarly, Naoshima in Japan, the 798 Art District in Beijing, and Gamcheon Culture Village in Busan of South Korea have all emerged as tourist hotspots, illustrating how East Asian culture shapes the global tourism experience.

At the same time, advancements in AI and digital technology are opening new avenues for cultural tourism. Innovative technologies such as immersive experiences, virtual reality (VR), and digital museums have not only enhanced accessibility to art but also provided fresh momentum for the tourism industry. However, while digital technology expands creative spaces for cultural and artistic experiences, it also poses challenges regarding the interpretation and consumption of cultural values.

This year, ArtBiz Asia is centered on “The Path to Symbiosis", focusing on how art and creativity can empower the cultural tourism industry. We will explore innovative models where art and tourism can thrive together, driving sustainable growth. Bringing together leaders from integrated resorts, the arts, luxury brands, technology, media and cultural sectors, the forum will uncover how creativity can shape the future of tourism while fostering long-term economic and cultural sustainability.
